Powerful winter storm in eastern US, power failure in New York and Boston

United States – The snowstorm is causing terrible devastation in the eastern part of America. About 7 crore people have fallen into a disaster due to the storm. There has been a power outage in New York and Boston, due to which the speed of the city has come to a complete halt. On Saturday, the National Weather Service (NWS) had issued a ‘bomb cyclone warning.

A layer of ice up to a foot (30 cm) thick has accumulated in the coastal areas. Due to this, the electricity of about 1.17 lakh houses here has been cut. People living on the eastern seaboard have been instructed to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Up to 10 inches of snow has accumulated on the northern island of Manhattan, local rail lines have been closed to clear snow from the tracks.

New York City streets of New York City with a layer of snow more than 4 inches thick. City Mayor Eric Adams posted a video on social media urging people to stay at home. However, in the midst of so much snowfall, some people are roaming around Times Square playing guitar in cowboy style without clothes.

The business has come to a standstill in Brooklyn as people are congratulating Snow Day. The streets and sidewalks of the city have become completely deserted. Even in this disaster, people are congratulating each other on ‘Snow Day’. A state of emergency has been declared in New York and the neighboring state of New Jersey.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has asked people to avoid non-essential travel. Apart from this, people for whom it is very important to travel have been instructed to keep blankets, water, food, and necessary medicines with them.

Snow emergency declared in Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also declared a snow emergency in Boston. In a TV interview, he said that the situation is going to be much more dangerous. This could be a historic storm. The NWS has predicted that strong winds will reach 80 to 120 mph during the storm. Because of this, the situation may get worse.

The snowstorm has also affected air services. On Saturday, 3,500 flights in and out of the country have been canceled. 885 flights have already been canceled for Sunday.
