A fighter jet crashes during a NATO military exercise in Norway. Four American soldiers have died in the incident. The incident took place in the Arctic region and has nothing to do with the Russia-Ukraine war. Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gehr has given information about the accident on social media. He said- A NATO fighter plane crashed in the icy area of the Arctic late on Friday night. Four American soldiers have died in this. We are investigating this.
According to the report of the US Navy’s Aircraft News Agency, the plane that crashed was a V-22B and it is used by the US Navy. Many such aircraft have reached Norway for this exercise. NATO countries conduct such exercises with different forces several times a year. This aircraft was to land in the Norwegian city of Bodo, but it crashed before that. There were only four soldiers on this aircraft and all four died.
The US military has confirmed the accident. Said- This drill is done every year. It has nothing to do with the Ukraine-Russia war. This year 30 thousand soldiers, 220 aircraft, 50 warships, and 27 countries are participating in this drill. The incident is being investigated and the media will be informed about this. The exercise started on March 14 and will continue till April 1. As of now, no concrete reason for the accident can be given. There are many aspects to this that will come to the fore during the investigation.
On the other hand, the Norwegian Air Force said in a statement – the accident happened at night and during this time icy winds were blowing in the Arctic Circle. The weather was very bad. The investigation team has reached the accident site and soon everything can be clear.
This exercise was organized for the first time in 2006. So far it has been organized 8 times. It is usually organized in Central Europe or Norway.
