The US military has killed Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al Qureshi in a special operation. US President Joe Biden himself gave this information. On the other hand, where the IS terrorist was killed, eyewitnesses present there to say that 13 more people have also died in the attack. These include six children and four women.
Biden said in a statement, “It was because of the skill and bravery of our forces that we killed the leader of ISIS, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi. All Americans involved in the operation have returned safely.” On the other hand, the US Defense Ministry Pentagon did not disclose the target in this attack but described the operation as a complete success. Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said there were no reports of casualties from US troops.
Abu Ibrahim took over the command of IS on 31 October 2019 after the death of former IS chief Baghdadi. He was also known as Amik Mohammed Said Abdal Rahman al-Mawla. It is told that the US military conducted this operation at the same place where Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed two and a half years ago. Abu Ibrahim blew himself up by pressing the button of his suicide belt, like Baghdadi, seeing himself surrounded, an official said. In this, his family members also died along with him.
It is worth noting that before this, the US had also killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the terrorist who founded IS, by conducting a similar military operation in Syria in 2019. However, Baghdadi was killed during the tenure of former President Trump. Now about two and a half years later, the Joe Biden administration has also killed Baghdadi’s successor by running a major operation in Syria.
