Nintendo Entertainment announced on Tuesday that they will be holding their first Nintendo Live event in Seattle, United States in September 2023.
Nintendo disclosed in a press release on Tuesday that they will be hosting their upcoming event in Seattle, where gamers can experience demos of current and upcoming Nintendo games, compete in tournaments, take pictures with their favorite characters, enjoy live performances, and more.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, Doug Bowser, the President of Nintendo of America, announced that the company is aiming to provide a new gaming experience for their fans of all ages, beyond the unique games, characters, and worlds that they can currently enjoy on the Nintendo Switch. He further stated that Nintendo Live 2023 is an opportunity for attendees to come together and celebrate with family, friends, and the wider Nintendo community, creating unforgettable memories filled with fun.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Nintendo Live had to cancel its event for a couple of years after starting in Japan in 2019. However, Nintendo was able to host the event again at the Tokyo Big Site in Odaiba last October, which included live concerts featuring K.K. Slider and Deep Cut.
Nintendo has achieved significant success recently, with the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and the release of its highly-anticipated film, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, in collaboration with Illumination. The animated movie set a record for the biggest opening weekend, grossing an estimated $368 million globally, with a solo contribution of $195 million from the US box office alone. This record surpasses Disney’s all-time favorite, Frozen 2. The movie features Chris Pratt as Mario and Jack Black as Bowser.
Previously, Nintendo had planned to attend E3 this year but withdrew due to concerns about their release schedule. Ultimately, E3 was canceled entirely after several major companies pulled out of the event.
