Ahead of Paytm’s $3 billion initial public offerings (IPO), formerly global business head of WhatsApp Neeraj Arora may re-join Paytm’s board of directors. Sources have given information.
Arora was on the board of directors of Paytm from 2015 to 2018. Arora left Paytm’s board of directors in February 2018. This was believed to be due to the comments made by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma regarding the regulatory manipulation of WhatsApp in the area of UPI. In November of the same year, Arora quit WhatsApp to ‘spend time with family.
He is an advisor to Venture Highway, an early-stage venture capital firm. Arora did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Prior to WhatsApp, Arora worked at Google, where he, among other things, led acquisitions and strategic investments in the technology giant. As reported by ROC, Paytm’s parent company One97 Communications said that Ant Group Senior Vice President Douglas Lehman Feagin has joined the company’s board of directors. In addition, Ash Lilani, managing partner at Sama Capital, has been appointed as an independent director of the company. Michael Yuen Zhen Yao from Alibaba Group Holding and Todd Anthony Combs, investment manager at Berkshire Hathaway, retired from One97’s board of directors on June 30.
