Amber Heard marked her 38th birthday in a relaxed and joyful manner. The actress posted a photo on Instagram on Tuesday, April 23, showing herself enjoying a glass of champagne. “Champagne kind of birthday,” captioned the Aquaman star, posing against a backdrop filled with numerous wine shelves.
Amber had not posted on Instagram for four months prior to this, last sharing about her film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, released in December 2023. She has been residing in Spain for nearly two years with her daughter, Oonagh Paige. Amber’s most recent significant public appearance was at the Taormina Film Festival in June 2023. Conor Allyn, director of her film In the Fire, shared an update on her life during an October 2023 interview with PEOPLE, stating that Amber has been “living her best life.”

“Amber is truly embracing life in Spain with her daughter and finding happiness,” Conor shared, mentioning that Amber has “moved on” from her well-publicized legal battles with her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Nonetheless, Conor acknowledged that the public hasn’t entirely moved on from the situation. “I believe people hold onto trauma for an extended period,” he observed. “Experiencing something of that magnitude on a global scale is not something one can simply pack away and forget.”
In 2022, Johnny Depp, 60, filed a lawsuit against Amber over a 2018 op-ed she penned for The Washington Post. His legal team claimed that her article tarnished his reputation in the entertainment industry. In response, Amber countersued Johnny, her former spouse from their 2015-2016 marriage. The televised trial concluded in Johnny’s favor, with the jury granting the Pirates of the Caribbean star $5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. Subsequently, Amber was awarded $2 million, after Johnny’s attorney, Adam Waldman, labeled Amber’s allegations as a “hoax.”
Following the trial, Amber was subjected to relentless comments from social media users, accusing her of mistreating Johnny during their marriage and suggesting she had been untruthful throughout the legal proceedings. She later appeared for an interview on TODAY, where she expressed understanding rather than blame towards those supporting Johnny, known for his role in Edward Scissorhands. “I don’t blame them. I actually understand,” Amber clarified. “He’s a beloved figure, and people feel they know him. How could they not? After hearing three and a half weeks of testimony discrediting me, it’s understandable if they doubted everything I said.”
