FedEx to donate Boeing 777F charter flights to relieve more than 3,400 oxygen concentrations, converters, and about 265,000 KN95 masks directly from Newark to Mumbai, the company stated on Thursday.
FedEx, an international freight company, is taking over 25,000 oxygen concentrators and converters to India through the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum and other multinationals. FedEx delivered an initial consignment containing 1,000 critical oxygen concentrations to New Delhi on 30 April.
FedEx will donate Boeing 777F charter flights to more than 3,400 oxygen concentrators, converters, and about 265,000 KN95 masks to relieve Mumbai directly from Newark. The international courier giant will deliver critical COVID-19 medical supplies to hospitals in Mumbai on 8 May (Saturday).
In addition, the firm is working with its clients and non-profit organizations to provide medical supplies and support to India.
FedEx President and COO Raj Subramaniam said, “We have been on the frontlines delivering relief since the start of the pandemic, and are responding to the urgent situation in India now. FedEx will continue to deliver lifesaving medicine, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other critical supply until this pandemic is over”.
FedEx has distributed over 80 kilotonnes of personal protective equipment coupled with more than 2.2 billion masks globally. It has provided $ 4 million in cash and in-transport support to help organizations such as Direct Relief and the International Medical Corps to send COVID-19 vaccines across the globe.
The Memphis-headquartered company is also a founding member of the Global Task Force on Pandemic Response, a public-private partnership by the US Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Business Roundtable. It aims to give businesses a platform to mobilize and distribute resources in areas affected by the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide.
FedEx provides life-saving supplies to help people around the world marks the company’s 50th anniversary in 2023 which is a part of its FedEx Care 50 by 50 goals.
