Samsung Galaxy S21 FE: variant with 8 GB RAM finally appeared

With a few cuts, the Galaxy S21 FE will become Samsung’s cheapest smartphone in this year’s S21 series. A report now reveals, however, that the budget flagship could be accepted better than last.

The South Korean manufacturer wants to build on the success of the popular Galaxy S20 FE from last year and bring out a slimmed-down version of the Galaxy S21: The Galaxy S21 FE is supposed to save Samsung after-sales of the S21 series fell short of expectations. In order to push the price down, users have to expect some reductions compared to the regular S21. As SamMobile reports, the budget flagship could now be a little better than previously assumed. A Geekbench score revealed that there will be a variant with more RAM.

Even if some information such as pictures of the S21-FE design is already in circulation until now there has only been talking of a RAM variant with a rather meager 6 GB of RAM. In comparison to the current S21, users would have to accept a reduction of 2 GB of RAM in the cheaper version. According to the report, however, a benchmark result has finally appeared that points to a memory version of the Galaxy S21 FE with 8 GB. So there will very likely be at least two versions.

However, the strategy is not entirely new. Samsung is saving something here to keep the price down. As with the S20 FE, the 8 GB RAM will probably be linked to a larger memory variant. If you buy the more expensive S21 FE with more internal memory, you also get more RAM.

Further cuts: Exynos instead of Snapdragon

In this country, the question still arises whether Samsung delivers the Galaxy S21 FE with Snapdragon 888 or, as with the more expensive S21 models, relies on the somewhat inferior Exynos 2100 from their own company. Currently, the rumors point to the strong Snapdragon chipset, but due to the global scarcity of chips, Samsung could again rely on its own processors.

With the S20 FE from the previous year, only buyers of the 5G variant were able to enjoy the often slightly more powerful Qualcomm chip. This time Samsung is likely to rely entirely on 5G, at least for connectivity.
