“Around 2.5 billion people across the globe maybe have some hearing problem by 2025, as per the latest information shared by WHO (World Health Organization’s) today. Around 700 people will require some hearing add and other rehabilitation services if action is not taken.”

Geneva: At the time when the entire world is fighting with the Corona epidemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned against a new threat. WHO said that in the next coming years, one-fourth population of the world may become a victim of hearing problems. In this regard WHO said that we need to invest more in treatment and awareness to deal with this situation and we also need to make a strategy to fight this.

Main causes of hearing loss

The World Health Organization (WHO) report states that by 2050 a large portion of the world’s population may suffer from hearing problems. So, there is a need to be aware of this from now. WHO has issued a report for the first time on this subject, which states that Infection, diseases, congenital problems, noise pollution, and lifestyle defects can make things worse.

In children, approximately 60% of hearing problems can be prevented through early measures such as immunization for the prevention of rubella and meningitis, and improvement in maternal and newborn care. In adults, noise control, safe hearing, and monitoring of ototoxic drugs together with good ear hygiene can help to maintain good hearing and reduce the chance of hearing problems.

According to the news published by WION, the report suggested some important measures, saying that it will cost $ 1.33 per person per year. The World Health Organization has warned that if the steps are not taken in this direction at the time, then the situation will become very bad. The health sector will be affected by this crisis, as well as the communication, education, and employment sectors will also suffer.

WHO suggested these tips

According to WHO, we need to control the noise pollution in public places and vaccination should be taken to fight this type of disease which can be a major cause of the hearing problem. In addition, WHO suggested a systematic screening should be in process to identify the problems. The director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that “it is estimated that failure to deal with this problem results in the loss of one trillion US dollars each year”.  He further said that we need to launch some campaigns to fight this situation, keeping in mind this potential danger.
